Category:
【Brief Description】Analysis of lithium battery export data in overseas markets in 2024
一. Analysis of export data
1. Export quantity and amount
According to the report released by the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, as of November 2024, China's lithium-ion battery exports reached 3.563 billion, a year-on-year increase of 7.3%. The cumulative export value reached US$55.074 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8%.
In November 2024, the export quantity of lithium-ion batteries reached 36.4 billion, a year-on-year increase of 24.8%, but the export value in the same month was only US$5.797 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.8%.
2. Distribution of export markets
The United States is the largest export market for China's lithium-ion batteries. From January to November 2024, China's exports to the United States reached US$13.403 billion, a year-on-year increase of 8.7%, accounting for 24.3%.
In addition to the United States, China also exports lithium-ion batteries to emerging markets such as Europe, the Middle East, Japan, South Korea and Africa, which have huge consumption potential and unique consumption habits.
3. Export product categories
Power and energy storage lithium-ion batteries account for a large proportion and have become the main growth point of the lithium-ion battery market. According to data from the Starting Point Research Institute (SPIR), global energy storage battery shipments will be 356GWh in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 61.5%; light power lithium battery shipments will be 43GWh, a year-on-year increase of 21.5%.
二. Favorable policies
1. International policies
The increasing demand for clean energy and sustainable development in various countries has driven the rapid growth of the lithium-ion battery market. Some countries have provided broad development space for the lithium-ion battery industry by formulating policies such as clean energy transformation goals and carbon neutrality and carbon peak goals.
Developed countries such as the United States may relax restrictions on battery materials and provide more opportunities for lithium batteries to go overseas.
2. Cross-border e-commerce policies
With the increasing maturity of the cross-border e-commerce market and the diversification of consumer demand, brand overseas has become the choice of more and more companies. The government supports companies to expand overseas markets by simplifying the export process of cross-border e-commerce and providing tax incentives.
